Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 7, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior girls bowler, Olivia Register. Olivia is a member of the West Central/Monmouth-Roseville co-op and had a fantastic day at one of the biggest tournaments of the season, the Abe Lincoln Memorial in Springfield. She rolled a 6-game score of 979 for an average of 163. Olivia scored a single-game high of 178 and placed 25th out of over 90 total bowlers.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is freshman boys wrestler, Bentley Cook. Bentley has gotten his high school career off to a great start. In six matches last week, he went (4-2). Bentley picked up three wins by way of pin-fall, including two in one night at Knoxville, and received a forfeit win, as well.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys bowler, Jackson Spence. Jackson had a great week in back-to-back meets for the West Central/Monmouth-Roseville co-op. He started the week with a single-game personal best 185 in Mt. Pleasant. Jackson then put together a 6-game score of 914 at the huge Abe Lincoln Memorial Tournament in Springfield, giving him the top West Central boys score.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys wrestler, Anthony Makwala. After qualifying for the class 2A state finals last season, Anthony picked right up where he left off. So far this season, he’s undefeated at (7-0). Anthony went (4-0) at the Carson Dejarnatt Invitational, winning the 165 pound weight class.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls bowler, Alyssa Barry. Alyssa had one of the best tournaments of her high school career at the highly competitive Abe Lincoln Memorial Tournament in Springfield. She posted a 6-game score of 1173, good enough for 7th place out of over 90 total bowlers. Alyssa rolled three 200+ games, with a single game-high of 209.
