The United Red Storm girls basketball team has opened the season (2-5), a much different start than a year ago. But this year’s roster looks completely different, with just one junior and one senior leading a group made up of almost all underclassmen. Head Coach Chris Olson has been in this situation before, as last year’s senior class had also played varsity basketball since they were freshmen and eventually broke the school record for wins in one season, with 28. Olson says he is now starting to see real progress from this young group.
United will host Stark County on Wednesday night in a Lincoln Trail Conference match up. The game will be broadcast live on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM and online at radiomonmouth.com. The night will start with the varsity game tipping off at 6:00, followed by a modified JV game. Therefore, our WRAM pregame show will start at 5:30. The Red Storm will then turn their attention to the United Holiday Tournament beginning on Saturday, with games at 10:30 against Barry Western and 1:30 against Elmwood.
