Within the next several months, the Monmouth Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Department will be utilizing e-citations when writing tickets for individuals, explains Police Chief Joe Switzer:
“The County Clerk got a grant for us and the Sheriff’s Department to switch over to that and basically what it is, the format for the platform for us writing tickets will be on the computer in each of the squad cars. When we write a ticket, the officer will be able to print it out right there, inside the squad car, and give the ticket to the individual. So, the days of handwriting traffic tickets and that will be gone,” says Chief Switzer.
“The first phase of it is the state citation. The second phase of it will be called e-crash where we do all of our accident reports on the computer in the car and we will be able to print copies of that accident report and driver exchange sheet. Then the third phase of this will be our local or city ordinances and parking tickets,” Chief Switzer adds.
Chief Switzer states the platform allows individuals to pay their fines through an online payment portal or in person at the police station or City Hall.
