On Monday, January 12, 2026, at approximately 2:20 AM, the Galesburg Police Department responded to Beck’s Gas Station, 1581 E. Main Street, in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.
It was determined that a subject wearing a mask had demanded money from the employee. The employee complied with the demands and the subject departed with cash and other items from the store.
Officers checked the area and located Maxwell Burton, 29 years old, a couple of blocks away from Beck’s Gas Station. Items of evidentiary value were located on Burton, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery, stemming from the incident at Beck’s Gas Station. Burton was transported to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held awaiting court proceedings.
