Students at Western Illinois University are gearing up to host what is considered the largest student-run agricultural event in the country, the Ag Mech Show, on February 7 and 8. Owen Bull, president of the Ag Mech Club on campus, says that this year the show will feature even more agricultural vendors.
“We currently have 92 vendors that are going to be there, the majority being ag-related. This year we kind of cut back on the crafts,” Bull shares.
He adds, “There’s still going to be a craft area. It will be on the upper balcony, and there will be bouncy houses for the kids. But we tried to shift the focus this year more toward agriculture to get more of the ag community out to see the show.”
With the increased emphasis on agriculture at this year’s event, Bull says the club has also added more educational opportunities for attendees.
“What’s going to be special compared to other years is that we’re going to have a presentation booth for certain organizations. We’ll have scheduled time slots set up; for example, FS could have a presentation at a specific time.”
The WIU Ag Mech Show will take place February 7 and 8 at Western Hall.
