Gwendolyn L. Shaver,77, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.    

She was born March 29, 1948 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Frank Allen and Mary Eola (Pedigo) Armstrong.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth High School.

Gwen married Francis W. Shaver in Monmouth, IL on June 5, 1970 and he survives

A devoted homemaker, Gwen took great joy in caring for her family. She cherished time spent with loved ones, enjoyed working through puzzle books, and loved watching her favorite Hallmark shows and was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching their games. 

Survivors include her husband, Francis Shaver of Monmouth, IL; one son, Rodney (Diana) Hale of Canal Winchester, OH; grandchildren, Karisa (Michael) Roupe, Andria (Sterling) Dudley, Victoria (Oscar) Garcia, Joshua Hale, Josia Hale, all of Ohio, Jacob Hale of Alexis, IL, Ryan (Briana) Hale of Peoria, IL, and Lauren (Joe) Wallerstedt of Surprise, AZ; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, James Hale; son, Richard Hale; five sisters and two brothers.

As per her wishes cremation has been accorded.  A private family graveside service will be at a later date at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  Memorials may be given to Western Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR).  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
