Through received grant funds, the City of Monmouth has been able to demolish homes that are in a state of disrepair. Recently, City Council approved a bid for the demolition of 1115 South 9th Street, reports Mayor Rod Davies:
“Council approved the low bid for the demolition of a house at 1115 South 9th Street. That house was in pretty significant disrepair. It went out to several bidders, but we received one bid from Maple City Excavating and Council approved that for $9,530. That concludes the grant we had received for housing demolition, and we will be applying for more, but at this time it doesn’t look like funds are available for that.”
Mayor Davies informs the Monmouth City Council is also pursuing housing improvement grant funds.
