No Injuries During Industrial Building Fire

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 701 West 6th Street this morning, Monday, February 2, 2026 at 4:36 a.m.

The structure involved is an industrial manufacturing building. The response included all three fire stations and 12 personnel on duty. Battalion Matt Cain arrived on scene and established Command with smoke and flames visible from the South side of the structure. The Central Station fire crew made entry with a hose line to extinguish the fire. The Fremont Station crew also took a hose line to the roof of the building to assist extinguishing the fire.  The Brooks St. Fire Crew assisted Central and Fremont and searched the building for fire extension. No injuries to fire personnel or occupants were reported.

An emergency callback of off-duty personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the city. Galesburg Fire Department Investigators were assisted by the Galesburg Police Department drone team, and Ameren. Galesburg Fire Department Investigators determined the fire to be unintentional.
