The United Red Storm boys basketball team wrapped up their season in the regional quarterfinals Monday night.

The Red Storm entered regionals at 14-14 and drew the 10 seed, sending them on the road to face seventh-seeded Roanoke-Benson.

United showed no signs of travel fatigue after the long bus ride, coming out firing and playing strong basketball in the first half, as the Red Storm took a 31-23 lead into the break.

United carried that momentum throughout the third quarter, holding a 48-40 lead with just eight minutes to play.

The Red Storm held the lead for the first four minutes of the final quarter, but then everything changed. United turned the ball over five times in the final three minutes, allowing Roanoke-Benson to steal one from behind. The Rockets outscored United 22-11 in the fourth quarter as the Red Storm season ends with a 62-59 loss.

United finishes the year at 14-15. Head Coach Jason Lancaster says it was an up and down season for his squad.

The Red Storm will graduate three seniors from this year’s team but return two of their top three leading scorers in Colin Leary and Kellen Boone, along with several other key pieces, as United will look to make a run next season.
