Spring is here, and farmers are beginning to get back out into the fields. Jake Armstrong, President of the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau, says while conditions are lining up well, financial pressures are still a concern.
“I think people are in a pretty good spot this spring. When the weather turns, we’ll be ready to pull the trigger and get going. There is some spring work to do, but not as much as in other years. Overall, from a readiness standpoint, we’re in a good place—but economically, it’s still tough, whether you’re in Warren County, Mercer County, Champaign County, or even Iowa. It’s just a tough environment right now.”
Armstrong adds that some farmers are heading into the year with a different approach to their financial strategy.
