The United Red Storm baseball team got their 2026 campaign off to a great start with season opening victories over Havana, 16-1, and South Fulton, 11-0 over the past weekend. The two following games were a little different, two ties due to weather and darkness. The Red Storm tied the West Prairie/Southeastern ballclub 4-4 in nine innings on Tuesday. A game in which United trailed 4-1 after four innings. The most recent game on Thursday saw the Red Storm tie up Farmington 9-9 when a cold drizzle started to fall after 7 innings. That was a game that United found themselves behind 8-5 going into the bottom of the fourth. The Red Storm would storm back to take a 9-8 lead into the 6th before Farmington scratched across a run in the top of the 6th.
Head Coach Ryan Molek says his team didn’t play their best but was proud of the fight they showed when trailing in both games.
The Red Storm host West Hancock on Saturday morning at 11am and Peoria Christian on Tuesday at United High School.
