Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Update

Share

Harvest is in full swing in our area and it is important to remember to be safe. Gina Long, Manager at the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau, shares some reminders not only for the farmers, but for all out and about during this harvest season:

“The biggest thing I always want to tell people is to try and get some rest. I know that people like to get in a hurry, and if there is a breakdown you just feel like you have to rush things to get back in order. Just be sure to check your equipment and just be safe and take these little measures beforehand. If you get done a few minutes or even a few hours later, that can be better than the alternative,” Long reports.

Make sure to take time and be safe this harvest season and watch out for others out and about on the road.

National 4-H week is scheduled for October 7th through the 14th. During the week, a local 4-H group, the Back Country Braves, will be holding a supply drive for the Western Illinois Animal Rescue. Long shares more details:

“They will be collecting items such as puppy pads, cat litter, liquid soap, bleach, there is a whole list of items. That list is going to be on our Facebook page and on the website. It will also be out in the newsletter, the Bi-County Cultivator, which should be out early next week. So if people can, feel free to drop off some supplies for them and help support their drive for the animal rescue,” states Long.

The supply drive will take place on Saturday October 13th from 10 until 1 at the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau in Monmouth. If you are unable to attend the drive and would still like to donate, feel free to drop off items at the Farm Bureau or Farm King in Monmouth.
