Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22nd, 2019:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week junior boys soccer player, Steven Meza. Steven scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie against a quality Macomb Bomber squad last week. He also had a hat trick against Princeton, scoring all three goals of a 3-1 victory.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys golfer, Caleb Copeland. Caleb shot a 9-hole, career-best 40 in a meet at Oak Run Golf Course in Dahinda. That score helped his team to their 15th dual win of the season. Caleb finished 27th in the Mercer County Invitational earlier this season.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Nathan Bigger. Due to an injury, Nathan was forced to take over at quarterback against the Mid-County Cougars. Using his legs and his arm, he ran for a touchdown and threw a 32 yard touchdown pass to put the game away late in a 28-0 win.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior soccer player Tylor Miller. Tylor scored four goals in a 7-0 shutout in a home match against Peoria Manual in Avon. That gives him five goals for the season, all while also getting some time at goal keeper for the Tornadoes.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore football player, Dre Egipciaco. Dre exploded on the varsity scene with a touchdown and 61 yards receiving in the opening week of the season. He would double that output with two touchdown catches and 161 yards in a Western Big Six Conference loss to Quincy.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank and Kehoe Eye Care!!
