Janice M. Ator, age 61, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at the Great
River Hospice House in Burlington, Iowa on Monday, December 9, 2019 at
4:40 am. Janice was born on March 13, 1958 in Monmouth, Illinois and is
the daughter of Duane “Stoney” and Doris Chennoweth Stoneking. Janice
was raised in Oquawka and attended school in Oquawka and graduated from Union High School with the class of 1976. She then completed schooling at the Burlington Hair Academy in Burlington, Iowa. Janice was first married to William Hetrick, Jr. and later married Jerry P. Ator on
September 13, 1997 in Oquawka, Illinois. He currently is surviving. Janice is a licensed beautician and began work at J. C. Penny in Burlington, Iowa. She later was manager of Regis Hair Salon also in Burlington, and currently is self employed at Chic – N – Guys Salon. Janice loved flowers and plantings in and around her home, going to sprint car races in various places, and loved her antiques. She loved to travel and go on vacation and most loved time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry P. Ator of Oquawka, Illinois; two
daughters, Dana Hetrick and Kimo Henry of Burlington, Iowa and Elisha
Roesel and Phil of Dripping Springs, Texas. There are two sons, Dusty
Hetrick and Dawn of Oquawka, Illinois and Chris Ator and Michelle of West
Burlington, Iowa. There are six grandchildren, Dalton Hetrick,  Jaxson
Ator, River Roesel, Asher Roesel, James Ator, and Jolie Henry. One
brother is surviving, Victor and Mary Stoneking of Oquawka, Illinois and
two sisters, LeAnne Stoneking of Kirkwood, Illinois and Carol Ann
Nevville in North Caroliina. She is preceded in her death by her parents
Stoney and Doris, and one brother.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the
Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends
at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening. A
memorial fund has be established for the Great River Hospice House in
