Brian Daniel “Danny” Sickels, age 61, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born August 29, 1958 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of James and Cornelia Mosher Sickels. On November 20, 1995, he married Diane Parrott in Oquawka.

Mr. Sickels was a 1976 graduate of Southern High School in Stronghurst. He served in the United States Army from 1980 to 1983. He was employed for many years at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed camping and fishing, was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR, and loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved his family more than anything, and he was a devoted son.

Survivors include his wife, Diane, his mother, Cornelia Sickels of Stronghurst, six children, Jennifer Johnson (Jaime Novak) of Fort Madison, IA, Nichole (Scott) Reed of LaHarpe, IL, Jeremy Terrell (MaryBeth Fuget) of Fort Madison, IA, Jason Sickels (Stacey Henshaw) of Seaton, IL, Joshua Johnson (Jaime Glaze) of Evansdale, IA, and Jessica Moyers of Dallas City, IL, many much-loved grandbabies and great-grandbabies.  Other survivors include one sister, Suzanne (Philip) Dye of Stronghurst, three brothers, James David (Paula) Sickels of Scottsdale, KY, Mark Douglas Sickels of Fort Madison, IA, Darrel Dean (Diane) Sickels of Bay City MI, a special family member, Naomi Kuenstler, and his rescue baby, Cinder. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister in law, Mary Sickels, and his special companion, Izzy.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday July 14, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Please visit Brian’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
