Audrey M. Greenstreet, 97, of Galesburg, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in Galesburg.

Audrey was born December 31, 1922 in Monmouth, the daughter of Andrew Peterson and Christina T. (Tholand) Scott.  She married Clarence O. “Slim” Greenstreet on September 24, 1940 in Kahoka, MO.  He preceded her in death on December 4, 2000.  Audrey is survived by one son, Steven (Mary Beth) Greenstreet of Galesburg; one daughter, Janette (Wayne) Wooldridge of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Marcus (Sara Moore) Wooldridge, Scott (Sarah) Wooldridge, Amanda (Rob) Kelley, Troy (Marie) Johnson, and Shawn (Charlotte) Johnson; five great grandchildren, Emily and Krayson Wooldridge and Tori, Tyler, and Logan Johnson; and one great great granddaughter, Piper.  Audrey is also survived by her special family, her neighbors, Penny, Justin, and Somer Moline; and several nieces and nephews.  Along with her husband and parents, Audrey was preceded in death by one daughter, Marlene West on August 24, 2008; two sisters, Anna Geer and Sophie Scott; and an infant brother, Christian. 

Audrey began working at Hawcock’s Diner with her sisters.  She later worked at the Huddle for 15 years, and last worked at Hillier’s Diner in Galesburg.  While their husbands were serving in WWII, Audrey and her sister Anna traveled to Detroit, MI to work as Rosie the Riveters. 

Audrey loved spending time with her family, from cutting coupons to baking for the holidays.  She loved passing on her baking skills to her family.  Audrey will be remembered for her hard work ethic and was a fearless woman.  She loved to be outdoors.  She loved all animals especially her cats and the neighbor’s horse, Nike.  Audrey served as an election judge for Henderson Twp. for many years.  She always enjoyed celebrating her birthdays attending hockey games with her family and her special family.  She also enjoyed watching hockey and westerns on TV.  Audrey enjoyed attending the Prime Beef Festival in Monmouth annually with her sisters and family, along with hearing the bagpipes during the parade.  Audrey will be missed by many.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.  Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or to OSF Hospice.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
