Former Auburn Football Standout Transfers To WIU

The player who led Auburn University in rushing as a sophomore last season has enrolled in classes at WIU and is expected to join the Leatherneck football team. JaTarvious Whitlow signed his letter of intent to play at WIU last week. He was Auburn’s leading rusher two years in a row, rushing for a team-best 763 yards and 10 touchdowns last year after rushing for 787 yards and six touchdowns on the ground for Auburn in 2018. Whitlow is a redshirt junior with two years of NCAA eligibility left available to him.

In high school at Lafayette, AL, he was an all-stater in football and basketball. Whitlow was a state champion in track and field, as well.

By transferring to an FCS team from an FBS team, he is eligible to play right away. Western Illinois fans will have to wait a bit before seeing Whitlow in action, as the Missouri Valley Football Conference postponed play for the fall semester with plans to play an eight-game schedule in the spring.
