M-R Has 90% Student Attendance in First Two Weeks of E-Learning

Almost two weeks of e-learning has been completed this fall semester for the Monmouth-Roseville School District and student attendance has been very respectable at 90% across all grade levels. Superintendent Ed Fletcher reports they continue to work with families to solve any issues:

“There are some families that we have not been able to get into contact with, but we are going to houses, making home visits, and trying to find kids and find out what the issues are. What we tried to do over the summer in our planning, as we were working through the different options that we had available to us at that time was we bought Chromebooks. Every kid was issued a Chromebook. We surveyed families to find out if they had internet access. The families that didn’t have internet access, we were able to secure some hot spots and we worked with Comcast and we are finalizing a deal to work with MTC Communications in Roseville to be able to look to families that maybe don’t have internet and help them in that endeavor as well,” Fletcher says.

The Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education held a special meeting to act on resolutions and the honorable dismissal of eleven long route bus drivers, two short route bus drivers, thirteen non-instructional aides, two cafeteria workers, and a reduction in hours of six cafeteria workers.
