Mrs. Marilyn L. Hayes, 86, of Galesburg, Illinois died 9:45 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. 

She was born May 26, 1934 in Galesburg to Arthur and Gladys “Marie” (Tipton) Hendricks.  She married Lloyd F. Hayes, June 28, 1953 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death March 23, 2010.

Surviving is a son, Perry (and Denise) Hayes of Bartlett, Illinois, two daughters, Paula (and David) Glasnovich of Galesburg, and Kelly (and John “Lindsay”) Bushong of Pekin, Illinois, a brother, Lawrence (and Maxine) Hendricks of Galesburg, four grandchildren, Zach Hayes, Collin Hayes, Emily Hayes Pysh, and Drake Bushong, three great grandchildren, Alexander Hayes, Cameron Hayes, and Ford Pysh, and a special friend Bob Davis.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Tim Hayes, Todd Hayes, and Steve Hayes, and two brothers, Robert Hendricks and Richard Hendricks.

Marilyn worked in retail for several years.  She worked for Sears, Kline’s, and Bergner’s all in Galesburg.  She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  She was an active volunteer with the Muscular Dystrophy Association including participation in the local telethons and bowling in the Muscular Dystrophy Association Bowl-a-thon.  She also enjoyed playing Bridge, bowling in area leagues, gardening, and canning the vegetables from her garden.  She was an active member of her 1952 class reunion committee and enjoyed their monthly luncheons.  Marilyn was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved going to Busch Stadium to watch the game.  The family would like to thank the Seminary Manor’s nurses, staff, and management for their loving care they gave Marilyn. 

Visitation will be 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited seating.  A private funeral service will follow at the chapel.  Rev.
