James L. “Jim” Brakeville, Sr.

James L. “Jim” Brakeville, Sr., of rural Little York, Illinois, passed
away at 9:36 AM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his residence. Jim was
born July 8, 1949 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Truman L. and Alice
L. (Adams) Brakeville. He attended Monmouth Schools and was a graduate
of Monmouth High School with the Class of 1967. Jim proudly served his
Country with the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam conflict. On
February 25, 1972, he married Luann Brakeville in Cameron, Illinois and
she is surviving. Jim last worked at Heartland Harley Davidson in
Burlington, Iowa, from which he retired, as a technician. He previously
worked at Alexis Motor Company, the Honda Shop, and Dee Harrison Ford.
He was an automotive technician and also completed body work. Jim had
many passions and hobbies which include being outdoors hunting and
fishing, metal detecting, Go-Cart racing, remote control airplanes,
cars, and trucks, anything Ford, Superman comics, and riding his Harley
Davidson motorcycle. Mostly, Jim loved his grandchildren. He never met a
stranger.

Jim is survived by his wife Luann at home, two sons, James (Stephanie)
Brakeville, Jr. of Butler, Missouri and “Norm” (Christy) Brakeville of
Little York, Illinois, and his grandchildren, Sydney, Madelyn, Logan,
Caitlyn, Natalie, Emily, and Hannah. He is also survived by one sister,
Cindy Brakeville of Monmouth, Illinois. Jim is preceded in death by his
parents.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday,
December 8, 2020 at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, Illinois.
Friends by pay their respects all day on Monday, December 7, 2020 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Due to Covid-19
restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required. A memorial
is being established for his grandchildren’s education. To leave a
