Additional COVID Vaccine Doses Going to Walgreens

Share

The state is expecting an influx of vaccines for residents in Phase 1B over the next few weeks. The Federal Government is going to be sending about 40,000 more doses each week to Walgreens around the state.

When the extra doses start to arrive, they won’t be at the expense of residents of long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. Governor JB Pritzker says the pharmacies in charge of vaccinating those individuals are nearly done.

“By February 15th, they will have completed all of the long-term care facilities. So I am pleased about that eventuality. Again, it is about protecting the most vulnerable people.”

The state continues to announce new retail partners for vaccination efforts and is still in the process of standing up large scale sites with the help of local health departments.
