Henderson County 4-H members will showcase their projects this week at the Henderson County 4-H Show. The 4-H show is an opportunity for youth ages 8-18 to showcase their mastery in the project areas they have studied over the course of the 2020-2021 4-H year. The Henderson County 4-H Show is taking place at the Henderson County Fairgrounds July 26 thru July 30.
During the Henderson County 4-H General Project Show, 4-H members will meet with experts in their project areas and discuss what they have learned over the course of the year. Projects range from civic engagement and computer science, vet science and visual arts, to weather and woodworking. In addition to participating in the General Project Show, 4-H members have the opportunity to compete with their livestock.
One 4-H member said of their experience, “The 4-H fair is my favorite thing about summer. I’m always telling my friends stories about the fair!” Shelby Carlson, 4-H Youth Development Educator encourages those considering joining 4-H to, “Come on out to the fair and see all that someone can do as part of 4-H. 4-H isn’t just for farm kids, it’s for any young person who wants to learn in a hands on way.”
Henderson County 4-H and University of Illinois Extension will align with current CDC, IDPH, and University of Illinois campus COVID guidelines. For those unable to visit the Henderson County 4-H Show in person, photo highlights and livestream of the livestock shows can be found on the Henderson County 4-H Facebook page.
