Lela L. Agan, 81, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, IL.

She was born on January 5, 1940 in Monmouth, IL in her parents’ home.  Lela is the daughter of George Theodore and Clara (Burns) Logsdon.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1958.  Lela attended Illinois State University for 2 years in Normal, IL. 

Lela married James M. Agan on October 15, 1972 in Alexis, IL; he preceded her in death on May 21,1991. 

Lela was in sales for many years.  She sold Tupperware and encyclopedias.  Lela was also a homemaker, taking care of her children and aging family members was important to her. She loved to read all the time.  Lela was a member of Mothers of WWII, Inc., where she served as a National, State, and District President.  She also served as the President of the Monmouth Eagles Auxiliary.  Lela was a long-time member of the Monmouth V.F.W. Post 2301 and the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.

Surviving Lela are two sons, James (Royce Wallace) Agan of Monmouth, IL, Neil (Shelly) Agan of Iowa; two grandchildren, Samantha Agan and Brady Agan; step grandchildren, Jake MacDonald and Keith (Schuyler) MacDonald; step great grandchildren; Shaun and Aurora MacDonald; foster grandchildren, Shelton Triplet, Tay Johnson, Marquis Sheilds, Michael Catton; two sisters, Georgia Groves of Monmouth, IL and Opal Martin of Littleton, IL; three sisters-in-law, Janet (Wendell) Shauman of Kirkwood, IL, Judy Malcomb of Knoxville, IL, Betty Beeson of Louisiana; brother-in-law, Dennis (Kathy) Agan of Galesburg, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Terri Oberhaus of Galesburg, IL, Linda Taylor of Monmouth, Patty Bern of Monmouth, IL, Lynda Melvin of Monmouth, IL, and Jennifer Rice of Monmouth, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; five brothers, Garney Keeney, Samuel Mettler, Edward Mettler, John Logsdon, Butch Logsdon; four sisters, Myrtle Mettler, Bonita Thomas, Patricia Tabb, and Minnie Totten Sornberger. 

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Alexis Cemetery, Alexis, IL.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Funeral Home.  Memorials can be made to the Lela Agan Memorial Fund.
