Senior won mile race, relay on Saturday

Monmouth College track and field senior Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois) has been named the Midwest Conference Indoor Track Performer of the Week after the Scots first meet of the 2022 season.

Dulin won the mile race at the Snow Bird Invite at Illinois College over the weekend with a run of 4:24.73. The time is the best in the MWC so far this season and just one second off Dulin’s personal best, which ranks in the Monmouth top 10.

Dulin won the mile race on Saturday by 10 seconds. He took the lead right before the half-mile mark and extended the lead through the last 800 meters.

The senior also ran the second leg fog the 4x400m relay as the Scots won another title. He took the baton from Alexander Brock (Lexington, Illinois), already in the lead, and maintained the lead before handing off to Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois). Patrick Shepherd (Peoria, Illinois) ran the final leg as the Scots won in 3:36.80, the second best time in the MWC this season.

Dulin was all-conference in cross country in the fall and this is his first Performer of the Week award. The Scots men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will compete on Saturday at St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa with a Noon start.
