United Red Storm Boys Basketball Prepare for a Program-First Sectional Tournament

Share

The United Red Storm boys basketball team is one of 32 Class 1A teams still alive in the playoffs after bringing home some postseason hardware from their regional tournament last week. The Red Storm captured a regional championship last Friday night over Ridgewood, 44-42. That marked the first boys basketball regional title since the consolidation in 2004. United, currently (27-6) overall, defeated Stark County in the semi-finals by a score of 57-34. The championship victory sets up a class 1A sectional title match up against the Southeastern Suns on Wednesday night at Abingdon-Avon High School. United defeated Southeastern earlier in the year, however, Southeastern’s all-state junior Danny Stephens did not play in this game due to a thumb injury suffered earlier in the season. United head coach Doug Dennison is confident his squad can score the ball, and will look to their strong defense in order to help them claim a sectional title, which would be another first for the program.
