Thomas George Carnahan, 73, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away on July 11, 2022.
He was born October 22, 1948 in Beardstown, Illinois to Benjamin F. and Margaret E. (Bell) Carnahan. Married in 1973, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorris Carter Carnahan. Together, they had two sons, Jeremy (Michele) Carnahan of Normal, Illinois and Joseph Carnahan of Chicago, Illinois.
Also surviving is his twin brother, Robert Carnahan of Eminence, Missouri; brother Benjamin Carnahan of Oakwood, Illinois; granddaughters, Annabelle and Sabrina Carnahan of Normal, Illinois; and his cat named “Boo.”
His parents and sisters, Margret (Robert) Rice and Jan (Merle) Ring, preceded him in death.
Tom worked at Maytag and Caterpillar and retired from Builders Supply in Galesburg, Illinois. He was of the Methodist faith and belonged to the Dahinda Fire Department for many years. He served in the United States Navy as a sailor on the USS Dubuque. Tom was known as the “man who fixed everything.” His greatest joy was his family and helping others. His wish was for others to pass that joy on.
Private family visitation will be held at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following. No public services are planned.
