The Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA) presented Representative Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) with the “Voice of Senior Care” Hall of Fame Award at a ceremony held in conjunction with IHCA’s 72nd Annual Convention & Expo in Springfield. Rep. Hammond was honored with the first IHCA Hall of Fame Award, cementing her legacy as a transformative voice for the Long Term Care community.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this Hall of Fame Award in recognition of my work on behalf of seniors residing in long-term care,” Rep. Hammond said. “Protecting our seniors and ensuring they receive top-notch care is one of my top priorities as State Representative. I thank the Illinois Health Care Association for this award and for their work on behalf of seniors and their families.”
Representative Hammond sponsored legislation that makes the determination for coverage of care less difficult on families and residents of long-term care facilities. This legislation was important to thousands of residents who desperately need a higher level of care provided by facilities throughout our state.
“The work that Representative Hammond does in Springfield is incredibly important for the residents and families of long-term care,” says Ashley Snavely, Vice President of Public Policy at the Illinois Health Care Association. “She truly acts as a voice for seniors in a forum where their voice may go unheard.”
The “Voice of Senior Care Award” is presented annually to deserving state legislators who support the mission of the Illinois Health Care Association. This is the fifth time that Representative Hammond has been recognized as the “Voice of Senior Care” in her time serving the 93rd Legislative District of Illinois.
The Illinois Health Care Association is a non-profit organization comprised of over 500 licensed and certified long term care facilities and programs throughout the state. Its members are comprised of facilities which represent skilled, intermediate, developmentally disabled, skilled pediatric, assisted living and sheltered levels of care. IHCA seeks to promote the highest standard of services in facilities and programs for the elderly and physically and mentally challenged.
