Dana Lynn Nelson, 50 of Delong, passed away a 5 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, with her family at her bedside at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg

  She was born February 2, 1972 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of John Thomas Ebbesmier and Celia “Cee” (Rice) Ebbesmier.  She married Jason Nelson on April 2, 2011 at the Orange Chapel United Methodist Church near Delong.

  Dana is survived by her husband, Jason; her nine year old daughter, Kinley Nelson, at home; her mother and stepfather, Cee and Tom Sloan of Delong; her stepfather, who helped raise her, Jim (Marion) Hall of Argyle, Iowa; her brother, Shad Hall of Pulaski, Iowa; two half-sisters, Teresa Houston and Tammy Russell, both of Burlington, Iowa; one step-sister, Lianna (Tom) Mastin of Maquon; her mother-in-law Sue Nelson (and partner Jerry Rogan) of Bettendorf, Iowa; special friends, Christina Laspina of Carefree, Arizona, Jessica Van Nice and Penny Brown, both of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends who loved her dearly.

  She was preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Ebbesmier, and her father-in-law, Jerry Nelson.

  Dana grew up in the Abingdon area and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1990.  She had lived in Delong since 2014 and prior to that on Day Street in Galesburg.  She worked in the Skew Maintenance Department for Dick Blick Art Materials in Galesburg for almost 15 years.  She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  She enjoyed being a “rock hound” and displaying her finds of rocks and crystals in and around her home.  She loved nature and Reiki and her connection to energy healing techniques.  She enjoyed the camping trips, hiking and fishing with her family and friends.  She was also a “lover” of Sushi.

  Cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate her life, her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.  Her memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the chapel with Rev. Don Shane officiating.  Those unable to attend in person may watch the service via the funeral home Facebook or the funeral home website.  Private burial of her cremains will be at a later date.
