Maude Specklebelly’s in Monmouth is celebrating ten years in business. Owner Jamie Ballard reflects back on how it all began:

“Monmouth was doing a Small Business Retail competition, and I was staying home with my daughter at the time. My bachelor’s is in graphic design, I still love doing that, but always gave my work away, all the things, and wasn’t making a profit. I went to the meeting, the financial meeting for the Small Business Retail competition, anyone could go to it whether you wanted to enter or not; went to it, went back and told Erin the next day that I had attended and the next day she said we were going to enter that competition. We never in a million years dreamed that we would have a store together. Life took us separate ways, but it was that initial investment in Monmouth that we took, and we are still here.”

Ballard will be celebrating Maude’s ten-year anniversary on Saturday, December 7th from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, December 8th from 1 to 4 pm.
