  • Scott Weber was officially appointed and sworn in as the Second Ward Alderman, filling a recent council vacancy.

  • Warren County Prime Beef Festival 5K
    📅 Friday, September 6, 2025
    🏃‍♂️ This 5K kicks off the weeklong Prime Beef Festival celebrations.

Zoning Board of Appeals

  • Mark Crain was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

🚔 Police Department – May 2025 Report

Presented by Chief Switzer

  • MPD responded to 1,626 calls for service, including 65 arrests95 citations, and 24 accidents.
  • Officers underwent training in radar certification, high-risk traffic stops, field sobriety testing, and more.
  • Planning is underway for coverage of:
    • Pottery Museum Event – June 28
    • Annual Car Show
    • Prime Beef Festival

New School Resource Officer (SRO)

  • A proposed ordinance will add a full-time School Resource Officer at Monmouth-Roseville High School, providing student support, safety presence, and school-specific engagement from MPD.

🚒 Fire Department – May 2025 Report

Presented by Chief Rexroat

  • The department responded to 149 incidents, with the majority being EMS-related.
  • Training highlights included:
    • Vehicle extrication using donated cars
    • MABAS shelter and generator operation
    • Joint exercises with Ameren IL and OSF Life Flight
    • Active threat response training
  • Firefighter Talbott earned his EMT-Basic certification, and outreach included school visits and arson education programs.
  • The department also hosted its annual retiree breakfast on Memorial Day weekend.

🚧 Public Works & Utilities – April 2025 Report

Presented by Director Brayden Bledsoe, Woodard & Curran

  • Hydrant flushing neared completion citywide
  • Brandt Construction was awarded Phase I of the West Harlem Roadway Project
  • Crews began inspecting infrastructure beneath Main Street for the next downtown streetscape phase
  • Water: 98 million gallons treated; all parameters met
  • Wastewater: 139 million gallons treated; NPDES permit levels well exceeded
  • Preventive maintenance and expenses remain on budget

📜 Ordinances – First Reading

  1. Ordinance 25-012 – MPD Composition Update
    • Adds a School Resource Officer to the Monmouth Police Department staff.
  2. Ordinance 25-013 – Setback Variance at 521 E. Broadway
    • Authorizes a setback variance to allow the property owner to construct a new garage.
