During the summer months, the Buchanan Center will host a series of artists, musicians, and singers who will perform on the Pattee Plaza or in front of the BCA building on the public Square. Artists will be on site during the days the BCA is open. This is part of our effort to reimagine the arts – together while apart.
Each week — times will vary like a “pop-up” museum — the Buchanan Center will bring new and different forms of art to you.
We kick off the summer series with live music on the Plaza Saturday, June 13. Singer and guitarist King Neptune performs the up-tempo Piedmont blues of Blind Boy Fuller and Blind Blake, as well as original arrangements of songs by Bessie Smith. Focusing on the music of the 1920s and 30s, he is an accomplished musician and storyteller, performing acoustic pre-war blues for over 20 years.
