Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau® is continuing to evaluate nitrogen in a cover crop and strip plot, with the help of University of Illinois (U of I) researchers. A field day will be held on Thursday, August 26th from 10:00-12:00pm at 1698 50th St, Kirkwood. At this field day, researchers from U of I and Illinois NRCS will share information about cover crops, phosphorus research, and soil health. Speakers for the event will include Austin Omer, Associate Director of Natural Resource Policy for Illinois Farm Bureau; Jacob Baker, host farmer and Young Leader Chair; Chelsea Harbach, U of I Extension Educator; Stacy Zuber, Soil Health Specialist, Illinois NRCS; and Dr. Andrew Margenot, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois. The field day will conclude with a panel discussion of three area farmers, Chad Bell, Brian Corkill, and Colby Hunt, who will share their experiences with cover crops. Lunch will be served at the event, RSVP to W-HFB Friday, August 20th.
