Buchanan Center board member Mary Osborne\, pictured in her version of “Life Imitates Art\,” has the perfect solution for you— a Selfie-Art Scavenger Hunt during the month of July. Each week we will post clues on the SELFIE-ART SCAVENGER HUNT Facebook event page throughout the month of July. There are 10 clues total. When you think you’ve cracked the clue\, go to the place where the public art is located and take a picture of yourself with the artwork. Submit all ten photos with your name and phone number to: buchanancenter@mtcnow.net. All who submit the correct answers to the 10 clues will be placed in a drawing for a $100 cash prize and a BCA membership. The winner will be drawn on July 31.

DESCRIPTION:Artist Residency Deadline:\n5pm Tuesday\, July 7\, 2020\nApplication guidelines and more details are available online at bcaarts.org “Artists” tab. \nOverview: The Buchanan Center for the Arts seeks an artist for the new Artist in Residence program in Monmouth\, Illinois. The residence will run from approximately September 1-November 21\, 2020. This residence is an opportunity for the artist to engage with the community to create public art\, teach classes at arts partner locations\, as well as create a body of work for exhibition at the end of the program. \nWe believe that art promotes social innovation\, makes valuable contributions to society\, and enriches our community. The selected artist will have the opportunity to expand his/her own civic and social practice while teaching and working with our residents to create artwork. The goal of this residency is to infuse creativity and artistic perspectives into everyday life and to support artists who value community-building as part of their practice. \nSelection Process: A selection panel comprised of members from the Buchanan Center for the Arts board of directors and community arts partners will review all the applications. Finalists may be selected to be interviewed by the selection panel in person or virtually. The selection panel will review all submitted applications by the deadline of July 7\, with a final decision expected by Friday\, July 31\, 2020.
