NEW ORLEANS, La. — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations (USTFCCA) announced its All-Academic teams, with the Western Illinois women’s track and field team being named to the list.

“We are certainly pleased that the women’s team’s hard work in the classroom has paid off with this outstanding national recognition. It is a great honor for them to be named to this list, and I am sure I can speak for the athletic administration, academic staff and coaching staff when I say we are all very proud of them,” said head coach Mike Stevenson.

The Leathernecks were one of 218 teams across the nation announced, and in order to be an All-Academic team, a program must have a GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Western Illinois women’s track and field team finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.18 to be recognized by the USTFCAA.

Recently, the women were also recognized by The Summit League for their academic work outside of competition, with 11 athletes earning 2016-17 Academic Honor Roll and three earning the Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence (Jasmine Brown, Khalyia Lawson, Madison Lefler). Jasmine Brown was also an All-League Academic recipient for her record-breaking 2017 season.
