Rexroat Dishes on Monmouth Fire Department Latest

Monmouth’s Fire Chief Casey Rexroat made an appearance at the station recently to talk about fire safety ahead of October, which is Fire Prevention Month. He also mentioned an event that will take place on Halloween that will give kids a chance to learn more about the fire and police departments in Monmouth. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 31st, the fire station will host an educational open house during trick-or-treating hours.

“Ken Helms – he asked me the other day about having an open house on Halloween and having the kids out to have some candy. If people want to dress up, they can. Just have the kids out and talk to them about fire safety. I believe the police, hospital, and the ambulance are going to be out there to talk to the kids too,” Rexroat said.

Rexroat talked about some upcoming presentations that the fire department will be putting on as part of Fire Prevention Month. Each year, the department comes up with a new slogan for the month. This year it is “Every second counts, plan two ways out.”

He also wanted to remind Monmouth residents about the free smoke detector installations that the department has been doing. Since April, 43 area homes have had smoke detectors installed and over 170 detectors have been installed in total. To set up an appointment to get your free smoke alarms installed, call 309-734-8427.
