MONMOUTH, Ill. – A day after the Midwest Conference bestowed the league’s Defensive Performer of the Week honor on Monmouth’s Kyle Schultz (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth), the website D3football.com has honored him with a similar award.
Schultz – who picked off a pair of passes and recorded 10 tackles in Saturday’s rain-soaked 59-14 win over Illinois College – was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. The senior linebacker picked off both passes in Monmouth territory, returning the second 34 yards to the IC 40 to set up a Scots’ field goal. Schultz’ effort helped the Scots maintain a share of the lead in the Midwest Conference South Division.
