CSC Volleyball Back Among Others Receiving Votes in NJCAA Rankings

GALESBURG — After a one-week hiatus, the Carl Sandburg College volleyball team is back among “Others Receiving Votes” in the latest NJCAA Division II rankings, released Tuesday afternoon.

Sandburg (20-9 overall, 5-0 Arrowhead Conference) had been among “Others Receiving Votes” for two straight weeks before dropping out last week. The Chargers reappeared after winning their only match last week, a four-set victory at Highland to remain the only unbeaten team in conference play.

The Chargers are one of five schools that just missed cracking the top 20, joining Central (Neb.), Illinois Central, Northeast (Neb.) and Oakland (Mich.). Coffeyville (Kan.) jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 this week. Parkland is second and Johnson County (Kan.) third.

NJCAA Division II Volleyball Rankings for Oct. 9

Sandburg can clinch at least a share of its first Arrowhead championship since 1990 with a victory in one of its final three conference matches. Two wins would give the Chargers the outright title. Sandburg travels to face Illinois Valley tonight before hosting Sauk Valley on Tuesday and Black Hawk on Oct. 23.
