Just four weeks until the major downtown Macomb annual event, Dickens on the Square, A Magical Holiday. The 24th annual Dickens on the Square will be November 30th and December 1st in historic downtown Macomb. Complete with all of your favorites, including horse-drawn trolley rides, living windows, strolling carolers, Disney princesses, and Victorian characters. This year’s event will also feature book signing with Rick Goldschmidt, Rankin/Bass Historian, at the Western Illinois Museum, Miss Margaret stuff-a- bear workshop, and Tea with the Queen at the Old Bailey house.

Friday night’s events will include the popular horse-drawn trolley rides, living windows, Miss Margaret stuff-a-bear workshop, live music, Festival of Trees, and more. Friday night you can meet and greet Santa at the train station at 6:15pm. Santa will disembark and head directly to his cabin on the north side of the square to visit with children from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

On Saturday, visitors will have the opportunity to have breakfast and watch classic cartoons with Rick Goldschmidt, Rankin/Bass Historian, at the Western Illinois Museum. Of course, the Children’s Shopping Mall will be returning to Citizens Bank on Saturday with new hours 10:00am-1:00pm. These are just a few of the many events going on November 30th and December 1st at Dickens on the Square. Make sure you check out Downtown Macomb Facebook page for more information. Printed brochures with a detailed schedule will be available soon.

“We are so excited about the additions to this year’s event. This is our third year for Santa’s Zephyr Express, which is a tremendous economic boost to Macomb as several out of town folks have purchased tickets for the train. This means that there will be many out of town visitors in Macomb that evening that will be looking for shopping and dining opportunities.”, stated Kristin Terry, Downtown Development Director with the City of Macomb.
