The Monmouth-Roseville School Board met earlier this week and one item of discussion was the Tax Levy. Superintendent Ed Fletcher has more:

“The board approved the levy increase of 6.34%, which will get our tax rate a little lower than it was last year. But I don’t think that is how it will plays out. I think we are closer to a 3.5% levy, which will leave us closer to where we were last year,” states Fletcher.

The Monmouth-Roseville School Board has approved a bid for the installation of air conditioning at Lincoln Elementary and the High School Gym. Fletcher offers more details:

“Over the last several years we have done significant HVAC upgrades at Lincoln, which a new boiler and piping. The natural progression was to add air conditioning in hopes to offer extended learning time and summer school, but in order to do that you have to have air conditioning. In the high school we installed new ventilation, heating, new everything, and the next logical step was to add air conditioning because it is a sauna,” Fletcher shares.

The estimated amount to install air conditioning at Lincoln is $400,000 and $231,000 for the high school gymnasium.

Fletcher hopes one day long term the district will be able to install air conditioning in all the buildings.
