The Buchanan Center for the Arts is celebrating their 30th anniversary with an opening ceremony on Friday, January 18. A new art exhibition will be on display called Primarily Pinhole, which was created by Austin, Texas based Spiffy Tumbleweed. Buchanan Center for the Arts Executive Director Kristyne Gilbert describes the impact and importance the center has had on the community:
“It’s a really big deal to have an arts center like the Buchanan Center for a community this size. When I very first came on board I was thinking about the phrase “for a community our size”, I started to think I should remove that from my vocabulary and my conversation, Because it’s maybe not something I should say because it reflects our size and maybe we can’t compete with larger institutions, but then I rethought that because it says something about a community our size because there are communities our size and larger who don’t have a lot of the things this community has that we share that we work for, and that we build,” shares Gilbert.
The exhibit is free and open to the public and will also include live music, as well as wine and hors d’oeuvres and a chance to meet the artist.
