Girls Basketball
The Lincoln Trail Conference’s girls basketball tournament continued last night in Princeville. The West Central Heat lost to the host Lady Princes 41-33. Mady Reed and Carley Lafary were in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Heat are (2-1) in pool play, one game behind Annawan and a half game behind Princeville with one game left to play tomorrow morning. Cross-over championship play is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Also playing at Princeville High School last night was Wethersfield and the Stark County Lady Rebels. It was Wethersfield getting a 63-49 victory. Brittany Litton led the winning Flying Geese with 25 points. Wethersfield is now in a 3-way tie for first place in Pool B at (2-1). Ridgewood got to (2-1) with a 49-24 win over Galva in the Princeville Jr. High gym. Kendall Lewis led a balanced scoring attack for Ridgewood with 11 points. Also at the Junior High, it was Annawan having no problem with ROWVA, winning 55-39. Ella Manuel led Annawan with 20 points. Kalyn Garza led ROWVA with 10.
Knoxville beat Havana 56-31 in a Prairieland Conference cross-divisional match up in Knoxville. Lauren Kavanaugh led Knoxville with 25 points. The Blue Bullets are now (25-2) overall on the season.
The A-Town Lady Tornadoes beat BPC 52-42 in another Prairieland cross-division game. Emily Wilson had 20 points for the winning Tornadoes. Kayleigh Sebben chipped in with 14 for A-Town as well. Madison Allen and Courtney Norris were both in double figures for BPC. Allen posted 16 points, with Norris adding 10.
The Galesburg Silver Streak girl are now (15-9) overall and (4-2) in the Western Big Six Conference after their 56-52 home win over United Township. The Streaks trailed 42-40 heading to the 4th quarter but came back to get the win. Chloe McCarthy nailed four 3-pointers and led the way with 15 points for Galesburg. Boys Basketball
United moved their game against Mercer County in Aledo up to last night from tonight due to bad weather headed our way. The host Golden Eagles defeat the Red Storm 69-39. Evan Wynne and Adam Johnson led United with 13 points apiece. Reshaun King had 21 for Mercer County.
Junior High
In junior high boys basketball, ICS hosted Mercer County in Monmouth. It was 8th grade recognition night for ICS. Mercer County didn’t play the part of good guests, winning both the 7th and 8th grade games. The Golden Eagles won the 7th grade contest 48-27. Jake Steele led ICS with 13 points. Lucas Collison had 20 for Mer Co. The Golden Eagles took took the 8th grade game as well 53-30. Nick Lewis-Bresnahan led ICS with 18 points. Kellan King had 19 for Mercer County.
