City Government Day

Share

The City of Galesburg will once again be hosting the annual day-long City Government Day event that introduces Galesburg High School students to city government. The event, started in 1991, provides students with the opportunity to learn first hand about municipal government. It enables government officials to have contact with students and allows them to voice their opinions on current issues. The event also lets the students participate in the legislative process through simulated department meetings and a mock City Council meeting.

Students, along with several Council Members and other City officials, will have lunch at Knox College. The lunch is sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary and Noon Rotary Clubs of Galesburg. Please note that a majority of a quorum of the City Council has been invited to attend this luncheon.

The event will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Members of the media are invited to attend the mock City Council meeting beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, at Galesburg City Hall, 55 West Tompkins Street.
