Mrs. Donna L. Thompson, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died 2:15 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg. 

She was born July 18, 1931 in Avon, Illinois to William and Merle (Terwilliger) Shultz.  She married James W. Thompson, June 4, 1949 in London Mills, Illinois.  He preceded her in death February 1, 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Marcella (and Steve) Harden of Galesburg and Kathryn (and Michael) Creekmur of Bonita Springs, Florida, three grandchildren, James Harden, Denise (and Steve) Fryrear and David Creekmur and four great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eldon Shultz. 

Donna graduated from Avon High School, Avon, Illinois in 1949.  After marrying her husband James, she became a homemaker as he worked on the Railroad.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  She was also a member of the Women’s Club in Galesburg and London Mills.  Donna enjoyed crafts and knitting and loved to go shopping. 

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Rev. James Ecklund will officiate.  Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Memorials in Donna’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
