Jodie D. Shafer, 73, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:19 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. 

He was born on April 18, 1946 in Burlington, IA, the son of Granville Sylvester and Delphine Louise (Shafer) Greeling.  Jodie was raised and educated in Stronghurst, IL. 

Jodie married Mary Jane Hasting on October 4, 1967 in Monmouth, IL; she preceded him in death on June 24, 2009.

Jodie worked at Wilson Foods on the production line for 30 years, retiring in 1985.  He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan and liked semi-trucks.

Surviving Jodie are his children, Joe Shafer of Galesburg, IL, Robert (Jeri) Shafer of Galesburg, IL, Michael, Jr. (Cindy) Shafer of Seaton, IL, Jennifer (Keith) Mikulich of Kansas City, MO; his grandchildren, Brittany Shafer, Michael Shafer, Jr. (United States Army), Brooke Shafer, Ashlynn Shafer, Aaron Shafer, Kristin Mikulich, and Joshua Mikulich. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Jane Shafer. 

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Interment will be in Stronghurst Cemetery, Stronghurst, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Jodie Shafer Memorial Fund.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
