Philip V. Larson, 83, of Little York, IL passed away at 8:01 am, Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA.

Phil was born August 23, 1935 in Monmouth, IL the son of Vernon C. and Verna May (Strickler) Larson. He was raised and educated in Little York, graduating from Little York High School, where he played on 6 man football team, in 1953

Phil married Dixie J Murphy at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth on September 4, 1955 and she passed away on March 17, 2019.

Phil farmed on the family farm for over 50 years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth.  He was very active in the Warren County Prime Beef Festival, where he served on the Fence and Beef Committee for 35 years.

Phil enjoyed vegetable gardening and eating the products of those gardens especially the sweet corn.  He also enjoyed watching softball, baseball, NASCAR and Bears Football. He was an avid Western book reader.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Jay (Teresa) Larson of Aledo, Josh (Tina) Larson of Keithsburg; his daughter, Jana (Scott) Blankenship of Dexter, MO, grandchildren, Corey (Jessica) Zenk, Tyler (Reilly) Zenk, Jordan (Cody) Boyer, Jessica Blankenship, Daniel Larson, Rebecka Larson, Brian Larson, and Mary Beth (Matt) Giddings; 6 great grandchildren; brother in law, Dan R. (Mary) Murphy of TX; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, John V. Larson; and grandson, Dustin Larson.

Graveside services and interment will be 11:30 am, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth.  Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30-11:00 am at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.
