Diabetes Support Group Being Held July 22 at OSF

Share

OSF Holy Family Medical Center is hosting their monthly Diabetes Support Group on Monday, July 22 in the OSF Wellness classroom at five pm.

The topic for the class is “stocking the cupboard”.

The class is free and open to the public. Soup, salad, and dessert will be served for five dollars.

Diabetes Education Coordinator Tina Canada elaborates on the topic.

“When we go shopping, going in with a plan can really help us not only save money, but also have really good food choices when we get home.

If you know you need to eat five servings of fruit and vegetables every day, so if you need two servings of fruit a day and you’re shopping once a week, you need 14 servings of fruit! So if I only buy four, I’m going to find something else to eat for the rest of the week. So I want to make sure I’m buying what I need.”

For more information, please contact Canada by calling (309) 734-1424. The Diabetes Support Group meets every fourth Monday of the month.
