Maxine W. Watson, 93, of Preemption, IL passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, 5:32 a.m. at Seminary Manor Galesburg, IL.  She was born Saturday, June 5, 1926 in Greenbush, IL the daughter of Cleo and Bessie (Cafferty) Wallis.  She married John William Watson on July 3, 1949 in the Roseville Methodist Church, he preceded her in death on March 13, 2012.

Maxine is survived by her children, John W. (Cindy) Watson III of Roseville, Dr. Patricia J. (Edward) Slininger of Metamora, James W. (Jackie) Watson of Monmouth, Eric T. Watson of Houston, TX, and Jane L.(Ronald Greer) Watson of Brooklyn, NY; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Lucille (Charles) Zamastil, Dr. Marilyn (Jason) Lee, Tara L. Watson, and Benjamin Watson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters (Martha Mason, Bernice Greenstreet, Marjorie Wallis, and Dorothy Blender).

Maxine taught school in Berwick, the Sunny Hill School in Orion and Roseville.  She enjoyed math and music the most.  She was a member of Preemption United Methodist Church where she was the assistant choir director and the accompanist.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.  She was active in the Sherrard Band Boosters and Mothers Club of Preemption School.  Maxine was very active in school, church, and community activities.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 25, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the Wise family Funeral Home Roseville, IL.  Visitation will be one-hour prior from 10-11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery Roseville, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Preemption United Methodist Church and/or the Sherrard Fire Dept.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville is in charge of the arrangements.
