Warren County 911 has modified emergency protocols in regard to the county’s warning siren.
The warning siren will activate when winds reach 70 miles per hour or above, or when a tornado is sighted. It will not activate during a thunderstorm.
Director of Community Engagement Ken Helms gives an example why the protocol was changed.
“Debris flying around at that speed can become very hazardous. A trash can at that speed is just a bad deal, all the way around.”
Warren County 911 changed the protocol due to a state-wide recommendation from the National Weather Service.
