Boyd Kincaid Florer, 74, of Galesburg, died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at home.

He was born July 21, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Dale and Dorothea Colleen (Kincaid) Florer.  He married Jeanette Lynn Murphy on May 23, 1970, in the Chapel of McCord Air Force Base.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanette; his “fur kids”, Toby and Buddy; a sister, Robyn (Sonny) Anderson of Fairfield, Illinois; cousins, Steve Kincaid and Kim Matthews and her children; and nieces and nephews, Curtis, Lisa, Kelly, and Wes.  His parents preceded him in death.

Boyd graduated from Fairfield High School.  He attended the Chicago Institute of Art and Clover Park Vocational School in Tacoma, Washington.  After moving to Galesburg, he worked at Admiral/Maytag for 30 years, retiring February 28, 2003.

Boyd was an active person, enjoying golfing at Laurel Greens and Bunker Links.  In the winter months, he kept active with bowling and archery.  He was a talented artist, focusing on drawing and painting.

Boyd served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971.

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019, in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois.  There will be no visitation.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Hospice Compassus or the Knox County Humane Society, both in Galesburg.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
