The City of Monmouth Approves of New Motor Fuel Tax

Share

The City of Monmouth has approved of a motor fuel tax bid in order to fund the improvement of the city’s roads.

The bid would see that taxes from fuel would go to fund the repair of 2.2 miles of road within Monmouth, a project that could take up to $800,000 to complete.

The project is due to be complete by early September.

Mayor Rod Davies explained why the project cost was initially larger, but downsizing was necessary.

“A council approved that low bid, and what we will do is go back with Brandt construction. We have a written agreement that we will remove some of the blocks from that project to get it down to closer to $790,000 to $800,000.”
